Because on the simplest level, the node number when checked against the nodelist can properly identify the candidate, despite the feigned ignorance of the EC and apparently you.
Now R14C submitted a proper ballot "in your eyes" that should have been accepted to supersede the others, which has been the practice of prior FTSC elections at least those prior to Michiel Van Der Hitlers reign.
