I was guessing you'd say that. Care to find a credible source that LATIN-1 is indeed an alias for ISO 8859-1? All my searches thus far show no such alias as LATIN-1 for anything, nevermind 8859-1. However there used to be an entry on iana that credited to win-3.11 which I found curious and could not find any other reference to this. If I can track it down again I will make a note of it just in case someone wants to know.
TS> But the question somehow implies there is something interesting
Deepends on what you find interesting. Bottomline is that many say ISO 8859-1 but are actually delivering cp1252.
For the record, both iana and glibc claim LATIN1 is the correct alias for ISO 8859-1 as well as many, many other sources including at least one MS based site.
Interesting? I don't think so but if there is good reason to drop LATIN-1 then officially it should be done. There is too big a difference between ISO 8859-1 and CP1252 to continue ignoring this.
