Same here.
If bragging instead of complaining is the order of the day, then I can claim having used serial port communications with a Scintrex proton precession magnetometer downloading ascii based data from the magnetometer to a 5.25" floppy on a 286 where the communications software also resided. The 268 in question didn't have a harddrive and resided in a cement vault surrounded by farmer's fields (ie in the middle of nowhere). I recall having to set up all the serial port parameters required for successful transfer of the data in question. It all worked fine.
