I currently lack decent consolefonts for Hebrew - amongst a few others - but can verify the above is indeed utf-8 characters in the correct range for Hebrew. I still need to do some work on it but as is it ist more reliable than the CHRS kludge which can easily be wrong especially the 8-bit IBM/MS codepages but also many of the ISO ones. I've seen KOI8 Russian text show up as iso-8859 not that it had anything to do with Fidonet but it could way too easily happen. For the record the message I am replying to - "MSGID: 2:280/5555 534abae8" - show here as "text/plain; charset=utf-8" which indeed it is.
Still picking away at this and all the recent replies have definetly helped the cause. I wasn't expecting it to be quite honest. Thank you.
