No doubt since "MSGID: 1:153/7001.0 534952b6" is flying the "CHRS: UTF-8 4" kludge and contains Russian text that cannot be converted to latin-1. However you could have skipped over the Russian and just converted the German and French text. However when reading ahead I see you successfully did this with a different message which I will later acknowledge with a reply to. Please stay tuned.
For the record the message I am replying to shows as "text/plain; charset=utf-8" which despite your "CHRS: LATIN-1 2" kludge indeed is utf-8. It renders perfectly here without any conversion. It doesn't on a Russian site that uses the CHRS kludge to it's Apache 'iconv' module BUT is perfect on an American site pretending to be an Austrailian site since they probably ignore the CHRS kludge and just render it as utf-8 no matter what even though thier word wrapping is broken with respect to multibyte characters.
