on the contrary... the software i'm using is one of those that was first in pioneering and implementing the character set translations... at the time that these things were done, it and other software using the same techniques and translation tables all did it the same way... many of those still do it the same way, today... even those which have been updated and are still maintained...

and therein lies the problem... that is not any sort of attack on bjФrn or his software... it is only saying that whatever config options he is using are not conducive to what the existing software is expecting... that his software changes character sets between postings is adding more problems to the situation, as well...
after a lot of discussion and thought about the situation, one should translate other's posts to their chosen local character set and write replies in that chosen local character set... there should be no jumping back and forth to try to reply in other character sets... use yours and lets others convert to theirs...
the header fields have traditionally not been included in the character set translations, AFAIK... these days, it is looking like it is necessary since others are pushing the point to extremes and actually causing problems with the technology being used...
