agreed! control lines may be interspersed with message text as long as they start at the beginning of a line and they are the only thing on that line... MSGED broke this years ago when paul (can't remember his last name) created his SOT and EOT control lines and started moving control lines to the top of the text block... it lead to problems with some software and at least one package halted development due to this...
