One thing he has done, and still is doing, is demonstrating what it looks like when you insist on running a really outdated and crippled system that not only cuts the subject line after 20 characters but also have absolutely no kludge information (other than recently MSGID/REPLY) in it.
And the "beautifying" function also demonstrates what it looks like when you're stuck in the US crippled alphabet world...
So, ironically enough, he actually *has* done some good things for Fidonet IMHO. 8-)
