That's where you, and so many other museum pieces in Fidonet are missing it out totally.
Yes indeed. The majority of the milliards of people on this globe, who communicate with each other, *are* preferring to use the editor that they are most familiar with: their news reader! And nowadays they can use whatever news reader they prefer.
The dying breed of fidonetters who, to the bitter end, prefer their old MS-DOS editors are what keeps us back.
Why don't you try it out? Set your news reader to the address in my origin line, and watch how suddenly a totally new fido world opens up to you.
Far from all the 8-bit MS-DOS programs' lack of e.g. all the important kludges, needed to override the severe shortcomings of the original US-focused FTN design, and without you even having to concern yourself with character translation, time zones, comment linking, &c. It's all done in the background, just as the modern internet user expects it to be done.
Welcome to the 21st century, where even parts of Fidonet have moved.
