I think there are (some) Sysops who think the above might be the "next big thing". I'm not one of them, for the record.

Agreed on all, but there are some that think it solves a problem (difficult access to FTNs from mobile devices) and that it benefits Fido by expanding the number of people who have access to messaging. I suspect it's an "issue" that isn't going to just fade away.
