Ironically GoldED makes a mess of this when quoting it! Geez. 2016 and we still can't get quoting right.
I just checked and both timEd and Msged do it properly.
IIRC years ago Carol Shenkenberger's software had a problem truncating lines when quoting messages?
Anyway, originally I was just going to point out that the reflow is traditionally done at ~75 columns, so if anyone's writing a short document explaining how quoting in Fido works, that should be mentioned.
