'pretty massive' is a relative term. The entire amount of global IPv4 addresses isn't even close to 'pretty massive'. For example, my local ISP gives me a /56 of IPv6 address space. Know how many addresses that is? Well, the entire IPv4 Internet is 32 bits, and I'm getting 72 bits. So that's 2^40 times more addresses than the entire IPv4 address space. That's 1 trillion entire Internets. Just to little old me.
IPv4 is dead. There's no 'massive cache' just waiting to be discovered. With current utilization trends, any 'massive cache' may delay their runout by maybe 6 months.
