What I've meant is the sub-delegation further down. Your router get's a /56 which is huge for a SOHO LAN. The common way is to delegate a /64 from the /56 to the LAN interface. A proper router allows you to set the prefix length for the LAN (take a /x from the provider's /56 and put it on the LAN). The next step is to connect another router to your LAN, which might be the gateway for your IoT gadgets. That router needs a prefix for its LAN, i.e. IoT gadgets. So the IoT router asks the main router for a /64 (or whatever is configured), and the main router sub-delegates an unused /64 from the provider's /56 to the IoT router.
