I know I can, but I see no need to do it now. Changes are sparse and far apart. My DNS hoster is a not for profit, that I a a member of. No need to load their services for just the occasion that I would want a quick update.
Shortening the TTL in anticipation of a change, was not a possibillity now, as I could not see this coming.

Getting a static address may not be a option for some. I know some ISP's deliberately change dynamic adresses every x hours.
I am lucky that I have a static address on my ADSL. But e-mail blacklist consider it dynamic.
My Cable address is dynamic, with a lease time of over a 4 weeks. If I do not release the address for some time, I get the same address, I have had the current one for a couple of years already.
Changes in the past were mainly due to restucturing and hardware repalcement by the ISP. I have never changed the mac address of the hardware I use to connect to this ISP. It is the same as with my first connect.
