Hello Björn,

On Tuesday September 01 2015 02:20, you wrote to me:

There is another system in R28 that too is almost ready. So the counter may be at 34 come next issue of the Snooze... ;-)

We certainly are ahead of the WWW. I am glad to see that there is still some of that old pioneer spirit left in Fidonet. ;-)

I am not sure if expressing the number of IPv6 nodes as a percentage of the estimated active fido systems is meaningfull. From a technical POV an active Fidonet system is a system that has a mailer on-line. (at least during ZMH). That number certainly is higher than the ~100 that you estimate. (But not as high as the nodelist suggests).

When we compare the list of IPv6 nodes to the lists that are published og IPv6 user adoption per country, we see some odd discrepancies:

http://preview.tinyurl.com/qccqjpp

The country with the highest IPv6 user penetration; Belgium (38%) is not present at all in IPv6 Fidonet. The second on the list, Switzerland (23%) is represented by one Fidonet node. The Netherlands is well reperesented in Fido IPv6 but only #25 (2%) on Akemai's list.

So... Fidonet is doing well, but we can do better.

50% of the FTSC members run an IPv6 node.
25% of the ZC's run an IPv6 node.    ( I included Joe in the count)
20% of the RC's run an IPv6 node

I didn't count the NC's if someone wants to do it, be my guest.

These figures aren't bad, but I think there is more potential. Perhaps we should make IPv6 capability a bonus factor in elections? ;-)

Cheers, Michiel
