Hello Paul,

On Sunday September 20 2015 15:11, you wrote to me:

PH> I now see in Windows undernetwork a secondary network adaptor and this
PH> also displays as a secondary network.

Something likethis?

Ethernetadapter aiccu:

        Verbindungsspezifisches DNS-Suffix:
        IP-Adresse (Autokonfig.). . . . . : 169.254.32.21
        Subnetzmaske. . . . . . . . . . . : 255.255.0.0
        IP-Adresse. . . . . . . . . . . . : 2001:7b8:2ff:3a9::2
        IP-Adresse. . . . . . . . . . . . : fe80::2ff:c2ff:fe3d:78b7%5
        Standardgateway . . . . . . . . . : 2001:7b8:2ff:3a9::1

If so, then we are getting somewhere.

Perfect!

PH> Equally both adaptors show ipv6 addresses assigned to each. The

If it starts with fe80:: it is not a bogus address, it is a so called link local address. It is a bit like the 192.168.*.* adresses that we see in IPv4. Withe the difference that adapters can have both a public and a private address. Every IPv6 capable adapter has at least a link local address.

PH>  and the new Tap adaptor shows the SixXS address for my end of the
PH> tunnel.

As it should.

So we are getting somewhere.

PH> The Tap adaptor shows no incoming packets but shows packets being sent
PH> out which I think is AICCU sending something every so often to check
PH> the status of the tunnel.

Probbaly.

PH> I wondered if I switched off ipv6 in the original adaptor and ipv4 in
PH> the new tap adaptor then things would work but it seems not.

No, don't toch it. Leave those settings as they are. The 169.254.32.21 address is an autoconfuration address assigned by Windows if there is no connection. The range 169.254.*.* is assigned for that purpose. You can also see it on a normal physical adaptor if there is no cable connected. Just ignore it.

PH>  I still cant ping my BBS box using ipv6 from outside.

Forget that for the moment.

The question is, can you make outgoing IPv6 connections?

Surf to http://www.kame.net/

Do you see the turtle swim, or is it static? If it moves you have IPv6!

Now go to http://ipv6-test.com/  What does it report?

Same for http://test-ipv6.com/

And of course the piece the resistance, try to make a binkp connection to my system.

Cheers, Michiel
