The 157 (not 155) char line limit is not a DOS limit, it is a bug in Ben Baker's old Makenl. Joe's segment will only be processed by Makenl at the ZC level, so it should be no problem. The new MakeNl, follows the FTSC standard for new applications: 1024 characters for the line and 255 chars for the individual fields. So no problem.
If there are any problems at the lower level that after 30+ years of Fidonet nodelist distribution haven't surfaced yet, now is as good a time as any to smoke them out.
