There is 6in4 and 6to4. 6to4 is an automatic tunneling mechanis which depends on volunteer 3rd party gateways. Avoid it if you can. It sucks.
6in4 must be setup manually. If your ISP provides that, I suggest you use that. Othewise you can use one of the many free tunnel brokets. he.net has POOPs all overthe world and is very reliable.

You can use one of the "looking glasses" to do some elementary test. You can't test binkp, but you can test if it pings.
