To adjust the prefix, one has to know what the new prefix is... If I maually configure a static address in WIn XP, all the other public IPv6 adresses disappear. When the prefix chages, that system will not be able to communcate with the outside world via IPv6. To get to know the new prefix, the system running the script will have to interrogate the router. The router does not have a proper interface for that.

Hmmm.. I haven't even figured out how to automatically update the DNS without the complication of not having the new prefix available at the system running the script. I think I will cross that bridge first...
