Yep, we agree, though while my network is physically one segment, it actually carries 4 logical networks:
1. Main LAN (10.x) - this is the default network, which all devices are on, most (including all configured by DHCPv4) are only on this network and IPv6.
2. Additional public IPv4 LAN (/29) - this is supplied via a Linux router running OpenVPN. My BBSs have addresses on this network for public access, SMTP, etc.
3. HAMnet (44.x) - I have an allocation of 44.x addresses. Currently restricted to a few hosts on the LAN, until I get around to putting some on the air. Another Linux router manages this feed.
4. IPv6, which comes native on my main Internet connection, and all IPv6 capable devices get an IPv6 address, either static or using SLAAC. In the future, I can see IPv4 simplifying my network. The HAMnet (if still needed) will hopefully one day be carried across IPv6, and the additional public IPv4 adresses may one day be no longer needed. Don't know if I will ever see the day when I'm down to a single IPv6 network with firewalling to support HAMnet equivalent functions on IPv6, but here's hoping. I suspect IPv4 will linger in some form for many years, even if we're all running IPv6 only or DS-Lite at home.

Not what I would do (more for flexibility than security), but since it works, who am I to argue? ;)
