Then do not put all of your eggs in one basket... This is tech-101. It is not best-practice for Vmware or any other hypervisor that you have one server that runs everything without any kind of redundancy.
If your work cannot afford redundant servers or infrastructure, then that is not a Vmware problem or a server problem.
