So, the UK had a referendum regarding leaving the EU or not. A minor majority voted for Brexit.

In Sweden we've also had e few national referendums. Such as the one deciding whether or not to change from left hand traffic to right hand ditto in October 1955. A vast majority (82.9%) voted for *not* making the change.

Fortunately (IMHO) our politicians disregarded that referendum and still went about making the change. The entire changeover started in August 1967 and was completed at 05:00, 3 September 1967.

I myself got my drivers experience and later on my drivers license after driving around on the left side of the road a year before that, so I had some troubles adopting (but I'll not trouble you with those anecdotes here).

In retrospect we all here in Sweden thank our then politicians for ignoring our bad advice in the 1955 referendum. We have ever since been happily driving on the right side of the road.

And then there was the UK Brexit referendum. The badly educated populace voted against better knowing for the Brexit. But unlike the Swedish politicians in 1955, the UK ditto acted immediately upon the referendum. And the rest is a prime example of how ignorant politicians act when they are too afraid of acting on their own.

Let the UK example be a lesson to every European citizen. Do not take too easily on a referendum -- you never know how your elected leaders will interpret it.  :(
