BF>> Why would he want Stockholm? There's nothing of value there but a
BF>> bunch of politicians. We have our valuables evenly distributed all over
BF>> our 2000km long country.

WD> You know pretty well what I was saying ...

No I don't. But you on the other hand does not know what I am saying.

   A) Sweden is mostly a huge wasteland. It's impossible to occupy unless you manage to deploy some million troops. Is it worth it?

   B) The Swedish Airforce, like all other military units, is totally decentralised. Nowhere are more than four planes located, and there's no central control station. They never operate from an airfield but from specially prepared pieces of ordinary roads. Thousands of them. So no huge easy target build-ups of planes like in e.g. Pearl Harbour.

   C) The Swedish Navy has a no longer so secret weapon, as the US Navy has found out several times: http://tinyurl.com/yykc9sbw

   D) The training of the Swedish Army is focused almost entirely on fighting a guerilla war, with all units, down to platoons and even parts of platoons, operating fully independently -- using a countrywide network of copper wire to communicate with each other.

So what would Putin's strategy look like? He cannot do like USA did when attacking Iraq -- take out the entire airforce with a few missiles. He'd have to try to take them out one by one -- if he can find them.

He cannot deploy forces via the Baltic Sea, because only a handful of Swedish submarines can easily block the way out from his narrow passage to the Baltic Sea, creating a huge ship graveyard in the Gulf of Finland.

Every tank he wants to send to Sweden must now go across Finland via the Lappland wasteland with almost no roads, but a lot of huge mountains, for hundreds and hundreds of kilometers. And he'll face many Swedish tanks and guerilla groups all the way.

He could of course blow the entire country up with missiles, but then the country would be useless to him.

And all this is based on the fact that Sweden should be alone here. I doubt that neither EU nor NATO would stay idle.

So, I doubt that Putin would want another Afghanistan...
