Once the #1 social welfare state of the world, ever since we joined the EU, our politicians have sold out everything we once had under the people's control (via our elected leaders) to private corporations.
The result has been disastrous. The idiots can't even defend our Baltic Sea cod from going the same way the Canadian Newfoundland cod went in the 1990s thanks to overfishing.
If at least Finland and Sweden could agree on a total bilateral fishing moratorium in the part of the Baltic Sea north of Åland (the Gulf of Bothnia), there could be some hope for our cod -- and wild salmon as well.
Fuck you EU, those are *our* waters, we don't want the industrial trawlers from any EU country (including our own) clean out our waters, we want to preserve them for future generations.
