It saddens me to watch how a few opportunists now are on the verge of alienating England from the rest of EU.
One of the many things that not only EU, but the rest of the world, could "import" from England is the concept of "policing by consent" also known as the Peelian principles:
Please read the nine points there, and then tell me that Sir Robert Peel didn't have a point. He is lovingly remembered as Bobby, giving name to the London Bobbies who, unlike the police in almost every other country, still after almost 200 years, are respected by the London citizens.
The Bobbies still don't carry fire arms, they still only have their baton and their police whistle. That's why there is so few gun related incidents involving the police as in almost every other country.
They still patrol the streets mostly by foot as opposed to almost all the police in other countries, that swiftly patrol the streets in their police cars. Hear nothing, see nothing, nothing here, move on!
England will be missed if they choose to leave our union. And not only by me, but by every Anglophile in our union. You still have so much to contribute not only to Europe, but to the world. <3
