I used to use Binkd and Golded but I use Turnpike for writing messages now so that I can keep all my correspondence in one database. It's the utilities I wrote for porting to FTN that no longer work.

I run my own mail server (Mercury). I thought about setting up an NNTP server but found it too complicated to sort out as I didn't have enough time to absorb all the niceties.
