MvdV> The DUP is against. But contrary to May who needed the DUP for a MvdV> majority in Parliament, Boris Johnson does not have a majority anyway MvdV> even with the DUP, so he does not really need them. He could ignore the MvdV> DUP and try for a deal without them. This could possible be acceptable MvdV> for the EU.
BJ may not have a majority in parliament but if there is a free vote on Saturday that doesn't matter. A free vote means that each member can vote according to his/her conscience and not forced to vote along party lines.
So if there is a free vote then BJ has to get just a simple majority. He would be safer having the DUP onside but it all depends on what support he can get from the opposition parties, and that includes the Conservative members who have been expelled from the party. They are still MPs and they still have a vote.
As I write this a news flash has come through on my phone that BJ and the EU "have agreed a great new deal!"
Ho, hum!
