I understood your reference to crumbling was to do with the Scottish call for independence. Therefore it would be wrong to say that Great Britain was crumbling, it would be the United kingdom.
I then transferred the epithet to the coastline of Norfolk which is crumbling away due to the sea ravaging it! It was intended to be humorous! We need the Dutch to come back and help us!
