Little Britain is now known as Brittany (ou en français "Bretagne"). The Bretons have their own language which is not dissimilar from Cornish and Welsh. They are all descended from the Ancient Britons who inhabited Britain before we were invaded by Angles, Saxons and Jutes. The invaders drove the Britons westward to Wales, Cornwall and Brittany. But I'm sure you know this. And that Wagner's opera "Tristan and Isolde" is based on an ancient legend of the Britons.

That's why I wrote "sic" just to emphasise that it wasn't a typo. Nevertheless it proves the point that we often read what we expect to read!
