Yes, of course, I agree. We are entitled to privacy and social media do tend to pass on things that we'd rather keep private. But in the case of my health and insurance it is something that they do need to know about. In the event, when I'd told my car insurance company about my heart attack they weren't that bothered and didn't put the premium up. However it did affect my travel insurance: while they haven't cancelled it they did say that I would no longer be covered for heart problems whilst travelling, and that is because of my age. I'll still be covered if I break a leg or something. My travel insurance is actually free as it is provided by the building society that keeps my savings.
