While mainly older people were there, there were also plenty of younger people whose better nature wasn't to the forefront. This "silver hour" isn't mandatory, the supermarkets were trying to appeal to their better nature. I took my passport just in case anyone should query my age. There were no checks on who could get in.
There's a video clip doing the rounds of a nurse in tears who had just finished her shift. On he way home she went to the shops and there was nothing there for her to buy.
