Absolutely right! Especially considering our family history. As you may remember I'm a 25% German, and until I started School (at 7) German was my native tongue.
My two kids and I spoke a lot of German when they were young which made them rather fluent in German by the time they could choose a third language (English of course being the second) at school.
Whenever we travelled around in Germany, they discovered that they actually managed quite well without resorting to English.
I myself didn't do well in German class at school (having the language of a 7yo), but when in Germany it doesn't take long before I start thinking in German (the first times to my big surprise). As for English it takes days, and only if I don't have anyone around me speaking Swedish.
