if the alias is a ip, it would be a bug
same thing happens in SMTP, ehlo/halo must not be 127.0.0.1 or ::1, only exeptions is [127.0.0.1] and [::1] is allowed as halo/ehlo hostnames, oh its same with cnames and mx records ?, wow :)
i dont know how strict cnames is with dnssec yet, dont need to solve it now, but there is possible solutions to that problem later, binkd does not even have TLS 1.3 yet :)
