The closest I ever got to Austria was after the first Gulf war when our unit came back to Germany. I went to Bertesgarten for a few days of R&R. The tour bus took us up on a mountain to the Eagle's Nest, and I was told looking down one side was Germany, the other Austria. My sister, on the other hand, has been all over Europe. Actually, she lives in Hamburg now.
