Hi Ward,

Tuesday November 12 2013 09:31, you wrote to Carol Shenkenberger:

one of such named consequences was, that R24's infrastructure was in a mess
for a while :-P
About one year ago, Torsten and me, we've tried to recover R24 operations
In principle we've got it to work, but with a couple of unresponsive central systems this tooks about 1 year until last weekend (no, not the net 244 to 240 move!) since then we have back an active communication with all related mail and file movers, so we now can move forward to build up an enhanced
stable infrastructure for R24 combined with R28, R31, and probably also with the northern regions (20-25)

With the experiences of the "old" BBR within R24, my idea is to expand this simple single-ring with 2, 3 more rings around, including all major mail and file movers, to get them connected into a coord channel, so we can coordinate the mail flows and directions. So by the end of this project, whenever one link goes down, the links around this node or the links that depends on this node going down can easily switch his link in a couple of minutes.
Eg. Helmut Renner from R31 is one of the far end points. If his uplink goes down, he still has 2, 3, 4 other links to recover his feed

All this requires some minimal coordination ... but I think, if we can bring as many nodes together, and all are willing to participate in such a project, we all can win  =;)
not only for R24, but also for the whole Zone  =;)
