A passport cannot be made invalid but a UK one may involve scanning by the
border guards etc and that may take a lot longer to occur.

Same could well occur at the UK borders, if nothing else because of a shortage
of customs and immigration officers.

You are right of course avoid travel any where near the cut of date.

Heck, I might even avoid going past Watford !
