The UK government has paid some 25 - 30M pounds to the French to secure as much as possible of the French coast line and stop / bring back these people.
I can think of a cheaper idea put up signs in multi languages that state we have stopped any payments to unofficial (illegally landed etc) migrants and put up arrow signs for the Atlantic .
OK, may be not a good idea on that one but send them back within 7 days back to France as it is the last EU country of departure.
I really do not know why they want to come here over say France, Germany etc,
We are more screwed up with day to day life that many of the EU countries they are coming from !
At least unless they like living on cold and wet streets with CV-19 around :(
Now most of us are in tier 4 so xmas / new year and family is not going to happen and no I don't do xmas but there is another event around the same time that close families try and get together and now can't even to do that outside in a garden but can do so in a park - work that one out.
There is an old English saying - that there are more outside of the mental hospitals than in - mostly running the country I think, but the young are not helping at all with their I won't get it mentality.
