Inwards both in current (terraced) and my old house (5 bed bungalow).
Same applies to the back doors including French doors in bungalow and terraced, leading to the gardens.
It is normal for UK houses.
All windows (uPVC) are outwards.
Might have to do with heating, assuming one can afford to have it on and so far yes we can :)
