No I only run it every few months normally or if a problem occurs.
The main reason for the long time is the Windows environment which takes well over 2 hours and sometimes over 3. The *nix environments it is done for all within 30 mins and the mainframe often in less than 15.
Some of the speed for windows is due to using WD Red but not a lot - its the Microsoft servers as it is slow for all window updates on other systems.
These updates cannot occur for Windows and keep the existing system up and running but for most of *nix and m/f can usually be done in situ - just some types of updates need a reboot and whole system available - usually when it is a large update including the O/S.
What is more annoying it that most of these are for security updates - not bug fixes as they are done usually in situ.
