A good TCP/IP firewall will also block port 24554 for BinkP sessions. So FidoNet via IP will not work either. May be you could try other no IP protocolls, like NetBios or Novell IPX etc. But there are sure more. Only the routing will be a problem. So good old POTS could be a solution, or 2G/3G/4G/5G mobile, or even AX25 PacketRadio via 27 MHz or other amateur bands.
