That is correct, fidonet.net provides no services to "Fidonet"
All host resolutions xxx.fidonet.net resolve to 209.99.64.18

You are probably more aware of why/how fidonet.net was lost for Fidonet use.

If I remember well, it used to point to a real estate company in the Moscow.

When I analised the nodelist a few of years ago, I noticed that a numer of
nodes with fido style hostnames in nodelist, resolved with fido style hostnames in the binkp.net domain. For local use I changed fidonet.net to
binkd.net for all occurrences. There is no need to do this anymore.

The test on valid hostnames is done with these modified names.
