We, here in The Netherlands, had our (un)fair share of those problems as well. The war over Geographical vs overlapping nets led to a seven year CSO war... :(
Michael Gove made it into the national news here last night. In an item covering the 10 candidates for succession of Theresa May, he was mentioned second after Boris Johnson. His drug use was mentioned in passing. Such things are not considered a big issue here. It may be different in your bayliffwick.
To me it seems that whoever succeeds Theresa May, we are still heading for a hard brexit. Boris Johmson is already on collision course, but with one of the others at the helm, the chances of reaching a deal acceptable to all concerned before the October 31 deadline also seem small.
