Hello David,

On Thursday September 26 2019 22:48, you wrote to me:

DR> Interesting point, but it assumes that everything that we do in the UK

Painfully obvious...

Do we know what exactly she has been told? Here what is discussed between the King and the prime minister is never made public. It is referred to as "the secret of the palace".

If it is the same in the UK, how do we know what she was told was false? What if she was told: "he Lizzy, I know this is unprecedented, but I want parliament off my back for a while so I can remain in office while I try to get this Brexit mess sorted out". That would not be false information would it?

DR> But she has to accept it because, by disagreeing, she would be
DR> entering into a political decision which she is not allowed to do.
DR> It's simply a courtesy to make requests to the head of state. I wonder
DR> if heads of state in other countries have the same protocol.

That's what I figured. It is just a sharade. The queen has no more choice of response than a red button that sounds a horn when pushed.

Cheers, Michiel
