The French are already claiming French should (once again) be the Lingua franca...
But actually now that the UK is gone there is a reason to keep English. In the past the UK had an advantage because it is their native langauge. Now that they are gone, that advantage is gone. The playing field has become more level.
Except for the Republic of Ireland of course. They can still use one of their native languages.
