No, it marks the end of the commands for the areamaneg. There can be user text below the tearline. It is ignored by the area manager but can still be read by a human.

Well, it was you who brought up areafix messages. So that is how we got into this distracting sideline. I'd say, it has nothing to do with ping.
I still have seen no clear technical reason why ping robots should invalidate tear lines or origin lines.
