MvdV>> I use meters or centimeters to express screen size. So why do MvdV>> you still use double quotes?
BF> Simply because that's been the standard since the advent of the CRT.
Really? Even if that is so, it is no excuse.
BF> My first TV set was 17", my second was a 21".
I do not recall how large they were. My last CRT TV was 75 cm. My present flat screen TV is 1 meter.
Inches, feet and yards have almost disappeared from my daily life. I still have a very old slide rule that shows both mm and inches, but all the new ones are mm only. I still have a set of inch wrenches that I inherited from my father, But I have removed them from the tool box as I haven't used tham in decades. When I see a screen size in inches, I have to recalculate to get an idea of the real size. Here it is metric only.
BF> Plus it's more convenient to say "a fifty inch screen" than "a BF> hundred and twenty seven centimeter screen"...
It is also more convenient to say 20 PSI instead of 206.8 kPa. So? You still use PSI for tire pressure?
