I am not in the professional video business but many kilometers of cable have gone through my hands. It has been decades since I saw the diameter of a cable or the surface area of the copper strands expressed in something other than metric.

When was the last time you bought some copper or tyleen tube for installing an extra water tap point? If you recently did you'd know that all the diameters are in mm. And it all can be assembled with metric tools.
