Is there any wording you could propose to tell Benny he doesn't know the fuck what he's talking about when he obviously demonstrates he doesn't understand what the fuck he is talking about when talking about things he doesn't the fuck understand?
It's a short phrase and it covers all bases.
After a number of years, Joacim, one has seen and experienced a lot ... especially the people who have no clue about the constant duct-taping operations required to keep this whole lot together. ZC1 and I have very good ties and he also battles a daily or weekly wall of incompetence and egoes. He is also faced with some individuals in his zone who'd like nothing better than to see him go flat on his face ... after a while one gets mildly irritated ... and even ZCs have a right to become irritated. ZC1 is also constantly questioned by the nodelist-police (yes, we talk amongst eachother) ... it also irritates him.
The first (shouted) request for me to resign was Oct.4th 1994, that was the day it was announced I won my first ZC-election (of 3) ... and when reading this someone will be inclined stating "Time for anotherone" and we're going to have the same topic regurgitated the same way it gets regurgitated every year ... this time of the year.
Also after a number of years, you see the tendences. Nearly with the accuracy of a Swiss clockwork in the fall with the days getting shorter, there's Tommi jumping on the bandwagon. And it's always the same people yelping about the same things ... Henri about his Lupo and how I pollute things mad because he wants to push an agenda of modem-speeds that no-one has ever heard about while at the same time not understanding makenl is limited to the number of modem-speeds it can process and so his request basically is rubbish, Benny about ... actually hardly anyone understands what's it about, Michiel about that one user-flag which caused the region he ran to blow-up while at the same time that particular user-flag pulled a dozen or more people back into the nodelist, eventually several abandoning the Android-platform and running fully fledged nodes now ... including 2 active resurected regions. I have a hub (2:292/80) with 5 nodes in it, my own and 4 others. Those 4 started out on the Android-paltform and quickly 2 realized it didn't give you that many options so they looked around for software and with help became fully-fledged nodes again ... one of them is now my RC ... a damn good RC with vision.
One can react stating "But as a Pvt it would have been the same thing". Technically in the eyes of a technician "yes", but being able to say "And you're a fully fledged node now" with just a tablet and some easy inexpensive software, has been some incredible frosting on the cake drawing people's attention.
In the FTSC-conference Michiel has been fulminating about the MOB 'user-flag'. First of all I don't see why the FTSC would bother itself to even look at user-flags ... they're just that ... 'user'-flags. He became melo-dramatic and went balastic over this because he cannot connect to 2:292/865 ... not that there ever would be a need for him to connect there.
But when running this zone beating everybody over the head with a set of standards, some probably having been pushed-through on the wings of a personal agenda by whomever, we would lose 7 or perhaps 8 regions immediately. So how militaristic do we need to be about the standards ... just think about this, I think there's only one person harping on about this ... everybody else is just happy communicating.
A ZCs job is something special, it takes a while to learn to understand the beast and I really get irritated by ZCs of 'othernets' where they have 5 to 10 nodes suggesting how I should be sending ZONE-segments to the other Fidonet-ZCs when that specific proposed methodology has been in operation for 3.5 years (as if I'm an idiot incapable of connecting the dots) or 'have you talked to the Icequeen" which was exactly the first thing I did when that specific problem was noticed.
I try to be open and transparant about this, Joacim, by posting in relevant sysop-echoes what's going on and I really get tired about the attacks resulting from it. The flip-side being to communicate nothing.
