Never had a computer activated scammer?
Even airlines do it when you call customer-support. A couple of years ago I called Delta Airlines to change a ticket. I'm pretty certain I was talking to a computer. A voice said "she" was getting my file and I heard keyboard clicks as they were made by those very old first generation IBM PCs plus I heard office sounds which definitely were added to the sound of the conversation. They recycled every couple minutes ... at times you were put on hold and that was to allow human intervention in the backgroiund.
At the end of it all, I felt very well serviced by ... a computer.
