The eternal foes Germany and France having waged wars for hundreds of years on whatever, stopped doing that after WW2 when then ECSC was created with 6 countries and they eventually became no-border trading partners. In not too many words Michiel explained the core of that.
Creating those borders again definitely will be a threat.
I'd say the US are a far greater threat to world peace than Russia ...
BTW, 2 things:
1) There is no world peace, never has been 2) The USA has been at war for 226 years in the 243 years of its existance.
